Welcome to Crown Rising. These Beta Terms of Use explain the rules for using the Crown Rising mobile app, its features, content, photo upload tools, recommendations, and related services.
By creating an account or using Crown Rising, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use Crown Rising.
Crown Rising is intended for adults and is not intended for children under 13.
Crown Rising is a sacred, premium, emotionally safe hair-care guidance app for Black women with textured hair.
Crown Rising is designed to provide informational and supportive guidance. It is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Information provided through Crown Rising, including guidance generated from check-ins, uploaded photos, essential recommendations, or other features, is for informational and cosmetic hair-care purposes only.
Crown Rising does not diagnose scalp conditions, hair loss conditions, allergies, or other medical issues. If you have a medical concern, you should consult a physician, dermatologist, or other qualified healthcare professional.
Crown Rising is currently in beta. Features, content, recommendations, essential availability, and functionality may change, be interrupted, improve, or be removed at any time.
Because this is a beta experience, some parts of the app may not work as expected. Crown Rising is not responsible for loss, interruption, or inconvenience caused by beta testing conditions.
You may need to create an account to use some or all parts of Crown Rising. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep it updated.
You are responsible for keeping your login information secure and for activity that happens under your account.
You may delete your account at any time through the Settings section of the app. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. All data associated with your account, including your Crown Check-in responses, regimen, and Reflections, will be removed upon deletion.
You may submit or upload content in Crown Rising, including check-in responses, reflection text, images, and hair or scalp photos.
You keep ownership of your content. By submitting content through the app, you give Crown Rising a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to host, store, process, reproduce, and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, provide, maintain, and support the app, in line with our Privacy Policy and any consent you provide in the app.

Some features may allow you to upload hair, scalp, or related images for personalization, progress tracking, rhythm support, or other guidance within Crown Rising.
By uploading a photo, you understand that:

Crown Rising may provide recommended essentials and links to third-party retailers, including Amazon.
Crown Rising does not manufacture, control, or guarantee third-party essentials, pricing, availability, ingredient accuracy, shipping, or retailer claims. You are responsible for reviewing details, ingredient lists, and suitability before purchasing or using any recommended essential.
You agree not to:
Crown Rising may suspend or terminate access if we believe you have violated these Terms.
The Crown Rising app, including its name, branding, design, content, features, graphics, text, and software, is owned by Crown Rising or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Except for personal use of the app, you may not reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, or commercially exploit any part of Crown Rising without prior written permission.
Your use of Crown Rising is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and handle your information.
Crown Rising is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Crown Rising disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, availability, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that the app will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or suitable for your individual needs.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Crown Rising and its affiliates, contractors, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity arising out of or related to your use of the app.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Crown Rising's total liability for any claim arising from or related to the app will not exceed the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars ($100) or the amount you paid, if any, to Crown Rising in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
You may stop using Crown Rising at any time.
Crown Rising may suspend, limit, or terminate your access at any time if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for other users or the platform, or if we need to modify or discontinue the beta app.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice in the app or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of Crown Rising after updated Terms become effective means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Please upload only photos you have permission to share and that are relevant to your hair journey. Do not upload unrelated, intimate, or sensitive content.
Crown Rising may provide links to third-party retailers, including Amazon, for recommended essentials.
If you tap one of these links, you may be taken to a third-party website or app with its own terms, privacy practices, and policies. Crown Rising is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites or services.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, provide, maintain, and support Crown Rising, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Because Crown Rising is currently in beta, retention practices may evolve as the app develops.
You may delete your account and all associated data directly within the Crown Rising app. To do so, go to Settings, scroll to Account Actions, and tap "Delete my account." You will be asked to confirm before any deletion takes place. Once confirmed, your account, Crown Check-in responses, regimen, Reflections, and all associated data will be permanently removed from Crown Rising. This action cannot be undone.
If you are unable to access the in-app deletion option or need additional assistance, you may also request deletion by contacting us at care@crownrisingapp.com. We will review and respond to requests in accordance with applicable law and our internal data practices.
We take reasonable steps designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Crown Rising is intended for adults and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take appropriate steps to delete that information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice in the app or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of Crown Rising after the updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the revised policy.
